Brady Hammond Agent Spotlight
Imagine knowing exactly what you want to do in life, and setting that path for yourself at a young age. That is exactly what Brady Hammond did. As a recreational and farm land agent in Eastern and South Central Indiana, Brady knew from the time he was a child that his passion was to be outdoors.
“You know, all of my buddies would play video games in high school, but I just wanted to be outside chasing animals, hunting, not having to deal with the same monotonous things every day. I loved it, and nature inspired me. By the time I was ready to go to college, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted a job that would put me outside, walking the land.”
We sat down with Brady to learn more about how he got into real estate and what keeps him motivated. Here’s what he had to say:
What did you do prior to entering into real estate?
“There was never a ‘prior to real estate’ for me. I graduated high school and went to college knowing that I would be a real estate agent. I majored in Agribusiness Management, got a minor in Farm Management, and a certification in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I had my real estate license before I even graduated college.
“There wasn’t ever a moment of clarity for me. I just knew: land is my passion, I want to work in real estate and help others discover their own piece of paradise like I’ve been fortunate enough to do for myself.”
What is your favorite part of working in real estate?
“Being given the opportunity to explore new land. The obvious perk to working in real estate is that I get paid to do that, but to me, it would all be worth it just to walk new properties every day and see land that I would never have been able to see otherwise.
“There is no other job out there where I can go walk 80 acres of woods, take pictures, explore, envision land improvements, and just enjoy nature. I get paid to do that! It still blows my mind.
“I always want to buy the land that I’m representing, especially if it is wooded. And I think that’s a good thing. People always say the best gifts are the ones you want to keep. That’s how I feel about these properties.”
What inspires you to be the best that you can be in this industry?
“Maintaining a good reputation for myself. It helps to re-inspire me. I never want to be known as that guy who does shady deals and only helps his friends.
“I want to be known as the land expert that you can go to with any buying and selling need, and trust that I will advocate for you, go that extra mile, and do the right thing by anyone and everyone.”
What aspect of your specialty do you find most interesting?
“The way I see it, people looking for recreational land are looking for a place that they are going to spend their happy time away from work, and if I can help them find that place–that little hideaway in nature–then that makes me happy.
“As an avid hunter myself, I know how important the land is, and I just want to bring that joy–that freedom–to everyone that I come into contact with!”
What do you do in your free time?
“Well, the obvious answer here is hunting. I generally hunt deer in the area I live in, but I also travel to hunt. I love it. I’m going to hunt antelope soon, and after that mule deer. I try to keep it diverse, and I love to travel and learn about new animals, new habitats, population control, and ethical herd management. It is so inspiring, and I get to do it outdoors.
“Aside from hunting, I also have two side jobs. I work part time at a chemical and fertilizer company, and also part time on a corn and soybean farm that has 30 head of cattle. All of my jobs, my passions, my hobbies, they all involve agriculture and being outdoors.”
